Three things about today:
1 - Stayed up all last night watching Galactica, 4th season, hoping I am not, after all, coming down with a cold. Until I recover I doubt I will do any writing, nor anything of value - can't put my concentration and effort into it. Nope, not even downloading pics & vids.
2 - Left home at 8:30am, took pictures in the fog. Went to McDonalds. Took pictures across the street at the restaurant that used to be Hardee's, where Tammy worked in '85. Been meaning to do that for ages, been waiting for the right lighting.
3 - Spent about three hours at the Farm with Lance & Cassie, hanging out. Gave them some gas money. Maybe she can find a second job soon. They are good people - for once Ivey has trusted his homeplace to the care of people who are not unreliable assholes. I am glad to help them out.

Three things about today:
1 - A bad wreck happened right in front of my home tonight. I was in my room when it happened, heard the impact but was too busy with what I was doing to pay any attention. It didn't sound like a car wreck, no squealing tires, no horns blowing. Just a solid thump. No screams, no yelling or any other noise.
2 - Today is the first day of my vacation from work. I return January 3rd. Looking forward to getting a lot of things done. I want to get back into writing stories. I miss that. My usual scenario is male lead character paddled or caned, with full or partial nudity in the presence of fully clothed women, and orgasm restriction. Stories are usually set in college or someones' home. Also, some unfortunate young lady is mistreated in the same fashion in front of the male lead character, which is used as a tease for his restriction predicament. More later.
3 - Sore throat today, may be catching cold. That's about right for the start of a vacation, isn't it?

Past time for that annual blog post.
Another two weeks or so and I would have missed 2010 altogether, and that would be sad. I haven't done a lot with blogging, as I thought I might when I began four entries ago, in 2007. I get so caught up in other things.

Been awhile...
A sporatic blogger to be sure, but an ardent one. I just have to get around to doing it.
Some fool at the pet store asked if they carry scorpions. He wanted to buy one. They are not native to this area, so he doesn't know any better. Maybe he should go out to west Texas, rent a room, and put his shoes outside the door before going to bed. If he doesn't shake his shoes out the next morning when he puts them on he may find all the scorpions he wants. At least one, maybe more, will be waiting for him.
See, it makes as little sense to want to buy a scorpion as it would for someone to go out shopping for fire ants or cockroaches. Can you imagine the reaction if you asked the clerk if they sold such things? "Yeah, I'm from up, uh, (well, you never heard of it), and, you see the thing is I want to buy some cockroaches. Yeah, I've seen them on TV and the movies, and they're cool! They skitter around all crazy-like, and they've got those little antennas and all that, and I want to buy about a dozen or so, maybe get some breeders, whadda-ya-say? What? You, too!
"The only difference, sometimes, between an exotic pet and a pest is whether or not they're a common sight where you live. My landlady had a hornets' nest out back she'd like to get rid of - $5.00/dozen, self-serve (you catch 'em).
Also, for these people who think the scorpion is a macho symbol or some other such, they should be made aware that scorpions, while predatory, will run from people. They actively avoid people (a sign of intelligence rather than strength), and only sting when they have to defend themselves. And their venom, while deadly to the bugs and small creatures they stalk, is not poisonous to humans. A person who actually embodies the qualities of a scorpion would be less like these chumps who try to buy exotic pests, and more like, maybe me.
Me, without the eating of bugs.
More later.

Getting old, or going crazy?
I spent so much time on eBay over the past few days that when I switched over to check the weather I saw a sunny day listed and clicked onto it to make a bid for it. That worked about as well as the time I was in the bathroom at home and reached down by the of the sink to get the air-hose to spray out the razor I was using. The air-hose was, proportionally, right where I reached, except the proportion is relative to where I stand in front of my machines at the factory I was working at the time. How many of us get disassociated like that from time to time?
Thirteen years ago this week, more or less, I bought my first copy of Walden. A few days ago my copies of The Maine Woods and A week on the Concord and Merrimack arrived, though I haven't had much time for them. Been on the computer too much - how's that for irony?
